Volume calculation (Bidirectional)

Hello all,

I have designing a Rectangular Tank and have measured the actual volume by using the Split with surface and Measure option in CATIA.

I would now like to calculate the surface position from the bottom of the Tank for a Specified Volume (Opposite case). Any ideas on how to approach this problem.

One method I have found is by using the CATIA Product Engineering Optimizer but unfortunately I do not have any License for this module.

a script might do it. move the surface position, then get volume adjust surface until volume is within tolerance

Glad to know that it can be worked out.

I have not used scripts before and trying to learn a little. However I am unable to implement what you have explained.
Could you please explain more.

If your Split is done with a Plane and your tank, you can control the position of the plan with the script and get the value of the volume after an update and move up/down a bit according to value and target.

create the geometry, create a parameter that read the value of the volume. then record a macro that change the position of the plane.

That would be a good start. You can search the forum to find how to access the value of a parameter with VBA so you can check the new value after the solid update. Then you make a loop (I would do a While loop) until you get your volume within the tolerance you want. You can go without tolerance but it will be much slower.
