How do you apply an equation to a feature so that the feature's height is driven by the desired volume of the feature?

Short answer: algebra. Take the volume equation and solve for "height" with respect to other feature dimensions.

Do you want the height to be representative, or very accurate? Also, I'm assuming you are trying to set the height of a model of liquid in a chamber.

Thanks for your reply. I have a oval shaped cup with internal features which effect the volume. I want to add graduations on the exterior of the cup showing 10ml, 20ml etc.
I placed a construction plane about 1/2" up from the bottom of the cup. I created an intersecting curve with the plane and the interior surface of the cup. I created an extrusion from this curve down to the floor of the cup using the "Up to Body" command. I can easily use mass properties to calculate the volume. I can then move the plane up and down to get the exact volume and then place the graduation line accordingly.
I was hoping I could use the "Equation" command to drive the height of the plane by inputing the desired volume.

That might be easier to accomplish with a DT. The target volume could be typed into a cell and (with regular Excel equation functions) use it solve the height. You may have to use the IF function to zero in on the target volume.

DT reads measured volume to a cell and the IF function compares that to the target volume. The result adjusts the height of the volume.
