Consider a turbo with a turbine volute, I am struggling to meet efficiency and an valid option would be to clean up the surface finish on the inside of the volute, currently it is a cast finish therefore a little rough. I would like to somehow have the bore polished, but I’m not too sure what method to employ, I was thinking along the line of blowing an abrasive matter though similar to grit blasting.

Remembering this is scroll shape piece does any one have any contact in the uk of people I could talk with?

Extrusion hone might work.

As Pat recommends, extrusion honing is a process that is used for this cleanup. We have used this for years as well as electro-polishing on turbine wheels.

Go to Google and search for Extrude Hone and Electro Polishing. REM is another possibility.
