?vplayer and getting an objects layer

im trying to set up a button that when i select an object thru a vport it sets that objects layer to vpfrozen but i cannot figure out how to get the objects layer name and place it where i know it needs to go cause it wont accept any input via (getvar,clayer)

any ideas anyone if everyone helps everybody the world will be a better place
