Hi Everyone,

Does anyone know any books or resources to gain knowledge for the most cost effective warehouse roof type designs depending on the span and spacing.

Any advice on what the most cost effective lean steel design for roof, 28m span, 1.6 head room for truss or rafter (accounting for 3 degree fall), 7m spacing

Thank you

This is probably a good one to post in the AU forum: Link. My gut feel is a pre-engineered metal building but nobody will know your local market like local engineers.

I agree with @KootK based on the basic geometry you describe PEMB sounds like it would be a good option. Downsides are that they don't offer alot of future adaptability, and the sometimes require concrete or masonry walls around the Base of the exterior wall for security. Warehouse owners in this area don't like the idea that a thin sheet of steel is all that protects their inventory from the outside world.

Generally around here that size building is PEMB, but large warehouses are tilt-up with steel joist roof. Either Panelized wood system or metal deck have been prevalent right now it seems metal deck is most popular.
