Hi,

When I suppress parts and sub assemblies in one of my sub assemblies I get a warning saying that the suppression is temporary. When I resume one of the suppressed components that generated this type of warning it causes the other suppressed components to resume. This is a pain.

How can I solve this problem and make the suppress command non-temporary?

You are apparently suppressing components in a member of a family table. To permanantly suppress, you'll need to go to the generic assembly and suppress. Note: this will suppress for all instances of the family table. If you just want the components suppressed for the individual instance, you'll need to add them as columns in the family table and remove them through the table.

Use simplified representations. This tool is very powerfull.

Thanks for your tips.

I modified the generic assembly and it worked to my satisfaction this time. I suppose I need to look deeper into the techniques you are describing if I want to make modifications to individual assemblies that are governed by the generic assembly.

If a feature/component is present in the table then making changes to an instance is temporary. However, if it is not one of the columns in the table then you can suppress & resume at will from any instance and it will change all instances.

Simplified reps work exactly like family tables, the functionality is all done with hidden family tables. Since simplified reps can not do anything that a family table can not do, i find the family table functionality easier to work with as the table is visible & editable. Many people seem to take the opposite approach.

Thanks for the clarification. I knew it went something like that. ;o)

I just didn't check it on a real model before posting...
