Hi

WASTEWATER CLARIFIER

I am looking at a wastewater clarifier. The concrete slab structure is about 35m in diameter, 400mm deep slab and a slope of 1 in 6.

It is an inverted cone shape and I am looking for ideas as to how best to pour it?

Has anyone done one of these before and how did you do It

Cheers

This has been stagnant for a few days. So let me freshen this up. I've seen clarifier slopes from 1:12 to 3:12. 2:12 is a bit steep. And 15 inches is thick. But to pour this correctly you need to start at the bottom and use a rotating screed (sometimes home made) to work the concrete up the slope. It's labor intensive to get this done, with workers carrying around buckets of concrete to fill in low spots, leveling the mud, directing the chutes, etc.
But the key is starting at the bottom and working up.
Another thing we like to do is to sweep in a 2 inch layer of grout with the clarifier mechanism. This gives a perfect tolerance for the clarifier workings.
