Water Glycol v Oil/Water Emulsion

We have a series (80 units) of hydraulic jacks made by Firestone (rubber) and use a water glycol mixture to power the jacks.
Could we use an oil/water emulsion - similar to that used in mining props, which is a 5% oil to 95% water mix?
Temperature never reaches freezing and the system would operate at about 80°F.
Are there any articles written about the advantages of either fluid in this application???

You could...but make sure your rubber that comes into contact with the mixture is oilcompatible. Normally a mix of 2% water in oil poses no problem, more oil might call for different materials.
