Hi,

Could be installed a water seal pot on a flare systems for an olefins plant (steam cracker)? Some HC can reach low temperatures (below 32 ºF) when they are flared, and this can freeze water in the seal pot, which blocks gas exit to flare stack.

But I have seen Olefins plants flare systems with water seal pot, started up several years ago, which have been designed according with standars by renamed engineering firms so I suppose I'm not considering something.

Could anyone clarify this?

Thanks for your reply.

The water in the seal pot is constantly renewed, so there must be a lot of cold gas to freeze up the bulk water in the seal. Steven van Els
