Co-worker of mine has just asked if I knew what the designation "CLP" stood for in relation to small diameter water service pipe (<2"). Client of ours has a system map that has this designation. Was told the pipe in question was installed anywhere from early 1900's to late 1950's. Anyone ever see this before? Only thing I could offer was the L may stand for lead.

That's very plausible, thanks for the response.

in industrial plants, Copper Lined Pipe is occasionally used.

Probably cast iron lined pipe. Ductile iron lined pipe replaced cast iron about 1955. Use of lead pipe ended in the 1920's. Lined copper pipe was never used extensively for water service.
