Hello all,

I am wondering if such a thing existed as a water soluble metal protection compound as a replacement for the lanolin or mineral oil protectants currently widely in use in saw mills etc. today.

I would like to use this type of product on unclad aluminium with the ability to wash it off using aqueous alkaline degreasing techniques or, ideally; water alone. The parts would instantly then be dried and processed.

Is such a protection medium available does anyone know?

Many thanks in advance for any guidance you can give.

With best regards,

James

There is a huge variety of water-based rust preventives available for use with metals. Alkaline cleaning is usually performed, but some may be able to be removed with just hot water. Perform a google search using rust preventive.
