For a significant hazard dam which has a 36" RCP meeting ASTM C-361 the contractor had already placed a concrete cradle which came up to the springline of the pipe before I discovered that there were a couple of joints that were not within the allowable tolerance for joint seperation. The two options are start over again at great expense to the Contractor or make the joints watertight. My standard fix for low hazard dams was to pour an 18" wide collar around the joint from the cradle to one foot above the pipe and to pack the inside of the pipe joint with nonshrink hydrophilic grout.
Unfortunately, I am not dealing with a low hazard dam. Does anyone have a field proven repair to make sure I can maintain a watertight joint. The maximum head on the pipe will be 25 ft. I would prefer to be able to download a detail and report where this has been addressed previously. Otherwise, the Contractor has to start all over again.
