waterfront cement bulkhead undercutting

Sand and rock erosion under 12' vertical cement bulkheads requires temporary fix to limit further 'decay'. Please advise regarding types of cement adhesives. Undercuts range from minimal to 2' in height. Thanx!

Is key word temporary or fix?
Temporary mesures can be a mass of 12" to 24" rock on a fabric in front of wall, then fill any voids behind wall.
This is not a fix or real soltion to problem.
Fix would be to dewater and form sections that are degrated and pour concrete or demo wall and start with better toes and footings. You may try a different type of wall that dissipates energy instead of deflecting it.
Would need more info to make any reccomendations.

My cement waterfront bulkead is not in current danger of collapse, but the the beach has now eroded to the bottom of my bulkhead. Has anyone ever tried/had success driving interlocking steel plates into the beach, thus limiting erosion? Thanks.

Where, geographically, is the bulkhead? As in, what is the wave climate, etc.

Any vertical wall elements, like steel plates will accelerate erosion. You will most likely need a serious amount of large rip-rap fronting the toe of the bulkhead.

Without knowing the location and dimensions of your problem, we cannot provide any well-reasoned suggestions to solve your problem. "Fabric formwork bags" have their place, but they aren't a cure-all. [blue]DaveViking[/blue] is right - you have to be careful of the fix you choose. Some of them have unexpected - and undesirable - consequences...

You can use fabric formwork bags to fill the cavities. Place the bags and fill with concrete by pumping .Grout behind the bags to fill any remaining cavities. You can produce a vertical concrete or sloped wall with bags using the correct permeable formwork as bags must be allowed to drain properly or the concrete inside will not set.Bags do not work well in very confined locations as they do not bleed.

Some repairs can mask more serious problems. You need to understand "why" the erosion is occurring before you decide "how" to fix it.
