Ways to reduce BOD levels

I have a client who has a convenience store/Dunkin' Donuts. They had an Eljen septic system put in a couple years ago and it is failing. The BOD levels are in the 600-800 mg/L range and we need them in the 75 to 100 mg/L range. It looks like the ST – 40 modulair norweco system will work but the cost is very high ($32,000 just for equipment). Does anyone know of another way to reduce to be BOD levels.

Reduce water use and disposal of food wastes into the drains. Dispose of food waste into the garbage instead. If you have a garbage disposal in the sink, get rid of it.
