We are facing problem in unloading

We are facing problem in unloading arm. it is used during unloading of LNG from the ship. Some of its parts are made by 316L SS. May be due to the lack of pickling and passivation the corrosion is observed on the surface. Some of the welded parts(316L)are also having corrosion after passivation. What could be the remedial means without changing the products by conducting surface treatments or using antirusting elements.

Rust surface attacks often occur on AISI 316 in marine athmosphere in heat affected zones at field welds or at areas where the surface have been in contact with carbon steeel as e.g. wire rope slings.

From a number of companies as e.g. Avesta-polarit you may purchase a jar of "pickling paste" to easily fix such attacks. Just follow the instructions on the package. Note: Use acid gloves and googles.
