Weathering steel in contact with galvanized components

When detailing an uncoated weathering steel structure, are there problems associated with placing galvanized components (i.e. diaphragms, bridge drains, bolts, etc) in direct contact with the uncoated weathering steel?

I seem to think there will be some amount of galvanic action between the two components, or that the zinc on the galvanized component will be sacraficed at an accelerated rate. Any thoughts?

I'm not aware of any; you might want to check with the fabricator. Weathering steel forms a tight oxide layer that inhibits corrosion where normal rust is a loose layer and exfoliates to expose new material to corrode.

I'd expect galvanic action very similar to that of galvanized steel in contact with ordinary structural steel. The zinc may slow development of the ~protective patina that forms in ~3 years on weathering steels.
 
Galvanized bolts are comnonly applied to weathering steel structures and behave similarly to those applied to A-36 type steels.

 
You might get some 'bleed' from the galv. where the weathering steel doesn't form a unifrom patina. This is done all of the time so I guess that it is only a visual thing.
