WEEE Directive

I'm developing a product, and our customer is looking to sell the device in the EU, so it has to comply with the WEEE directive.

It is a portable device using the a CR2032 type cell. The directive states it has to be removable, but no where does it state the limitations of how to remove it. I was hoping to use a tabbed battery, and solder the tabs to the circuit board.

Has anyone developed any products that comply with the WEEE directive?

WEEE wants the battery removable so it can be recycled at the end of the products life. There are tabbed battery holders available that solder to the PCB and you slip the battery in. Keystone 1060 is one example.

The battery must be removable without using tools, so you need a snap-in holder of some kind.
Also, WEEE says that the producer/importer must carry the cost of recycling, so don't forget this in your pricing calculation.
For selling in Europe, don't forget RoHS and CE as well.
