Hi all!

can anyone tell me a rough estimation of weight and/or cost for mini hydro power generating unit (turbine + generator) for two schemes:

1) Pelton type unit with 2500KW 50Hz generator, speed 750rpm, pelton runner dia. 0.9m?

2) francis type, with 1500 KW 50Hz generator @ 1500rpm, and with francis runner dia 0.5m

any comparative data for similar plants (or hints how to get them) are appreciated!

Thanks,
Petar

I commissioned a 2.5MW Pelton wheel generator a few years ago. The runner was cast and machined stainless steel about 250kg, the turbine casing, shaft, bearings and injectors I guess would add another 2000kg. The generator was an AVK, 6 pole 1000rpm synchronous machine, which was engineered to withstand full run away speed for 10min. I'm guessing that it must be about 7-8 ton.

My part of the job was to supply the governor and make it all go, so I don't know the cost of the project.

For something of this size would think that $250kUSD will get you the hardware, civil works and installation are a whole separate issue.

Where in the world do you want to install these turbines?

hopefully, installation will take place in Serbia.

Thanks a lot for this input!

Almost everybody likes hydro because God pays for shipping in the fuel!
