So i've found a website that lists the P-numbers of base material ( ). This covers asme materials. Is there a comparable chart for aisi materials like 4140? The welding shop we use can weld all p1 materials like 1018 to a105 and such but what about 4140 to a105?

Step one is to pick a "Code of Record"... also review your client's contract requirements

The welding requirements come from your selected code

Are you building/welding something in conformance with ASME-VIII, or AISC or API ? ... Select your construction code and review requirements.

I am not aware of any "P-number" system existing outside of ASME rules
