i have to design several CS bag filters (cylindrical in shape) with design pr. as 4.4 kg/cm2g and 130degC. On my GAD, client comments "Nozzle flanges upto 24" as per ASME B16.5. Nozzle flanges having size more than 24" and less than 60" shall be as per ASME B 16.47. I understand that B16.47 specifies only WN flanges and blind flng. These filters are mounted on the nozzle of purge column which actually has a Weld neck flange at the connection. It discourages me to use ring type flat face flanges as body flanges(each filter has three nos. body flanges)after visiting these comments. I feel the connecting flange with the nozzle can be made WN however this is not required for the two nos. cover flangesNevertheless these incur some price implication at low budget.
