Hey guys I need some clarification on a weld symbol. If I have a single v-groove symbol with no contour line or size of reinforcement and doesn't give anymore information does that automatically tell me to just fill in the groove flush or should I fill and add the 1/8" max reinforcement per AWS D1.1? Any information will be greatly appreciated.

The symbol can be interpreted as a CJP groove weld filled flush with the adjacent surfaces. The maximum reinforcement allowed is a function of the base metal thickness per D1.1:2010.

Assume flash and flash as much as you can but if you pass it contour no more than an 8th. Per Code... Or ask your supervisor or Qcm, its his/her job unless you are a solo contractor...

It's flush to 1/8 inch reinforcemnt
