Hello All,

Code - ASME Sec IX
What are the disqualification criteria for a welder at your shops. What is the repair rate that you guys set for a welder to be disqualified and retrained on that process?

Regards,
HMN

HMN...The answers are already in Section IX. Could you be more specific?

Sen;
The OP is asking about production weld reject rates, and not initial qualification welds.

Disqualification criteria varied in my previous company based on welder availability, scope of repairs, and difficulty of welds made. In all cases the welders were made aware of disqualification criteria prior to employment even though we were a non-union Contractor. Generally three major repairs in one week were cause for retraining/requalification or termination.

Thanks all for your help. Just wanted to know how stringent it is everywhere.
