We are welding a 14" sch 100 A 106 Gr. B pipe to 1 1/4" A 36 plates the full circumference every 36". We ae using FCAW with Co2 and making 2 passes. We are not preheating or post heating. The ambient temperature is in the mid 70F. The latest pipe is showing cracks along the edge of the second pass. Any suggestions?

Your wicking too much heat away from the weld region into the 1.25" thick base plate. Use a preheat of 200 deg F.
