The construction crew that I am helping prefers bolting onto a lifting lug rather than rigging the paddle on a paddle blind to life. The 516gr70 blind is for 42" pipe and is 2-5/8" thick. Do any of you have thoughts on that?

Thank you!

bimr,
There is a big difference between a "Blind Flange (shown in your Video) and the "Paddle Blind" the OP asked about.
The Paddle Blind should have (1) a welded on tongue with a hole for a crane hook or (2) a drilled and tapped hole (in the rim) for a lifting Pin.

Sometimes its possible to do all the right things and still get bad results

My bad pennpiper. Lost my train of thought while posting.

Sizes over 8-Inch are typically specified with welded lifting lugs because of the weight.
