Dear all,

For a project that I'm following, I have a doubt regarding the PQR sent by our supplier.

We have to weld a plate in P355GH (P-No 1, Group 2) to another plate A240 304 (P-no 8, Group 1).
Our supplier sent us a PQR with joint material A516 gr.60 (P-no 1, Group 1) to A240 304 (P-no 8, Group 1).

Since the QW-423 says that we can use materials from the same P-No, but doesn't mention the Group N°, I'm not sure if we can accept that PQR.

Can someone help me?

If we can use that PQR, how the change in Group N° affect the procedures?

Thanks in advance.

Are you referring to a PQR or a WPS?
QW-423 applies to welder qualification, not procedures. See Table QW-253 and QW-403.5.
Group number matters if impact testing is required. If not then you are good to go (in that aspect).

This is very basic stuff, indicating that welding engineering is not in your skill set. I recommend you consult a specialist.

Thank you for your answer. Yes, I will contact an specialist to understand better how to proceed.

In Europe I think that's not possible. Materials 1.1 are up to 275 MPa yield strenght and 1.2 are up to 355 MPa. A516 Gr60 is 265 MPa so, depending on the inspector, you may be into trouble

@Sir Mateus,

Good Day,
Based on my understanding it is qualified if your complying standard is ASME.
as referred in QW-403.5, change in Group Number is supplementary essential, this variables becomes essentials in a situation of toughness testing is required.

I am newbie in this field as welding engineering staff.

May I ask if what is welding consumable will you use based on your procedure? :)
