I need some information on welding 430 (or 430F)
stainless steel to 304 or 316.
Is it possible using TIG, beam or laser welding?
What are the concerns when welding these materials
together if any?
What filler rod is recommneded?
Any other information would be greatly appreciated
Thank You,

317 filler is use when welding two differents tipe of stainless steel the equipment use is regular TIG with ARGON, to clean the parts wire brushes and related tool should be made of ss also to avoid any contamination.

We weld this combination quite often. The low carbon grades (304L or 316L) create a better weld. We use only 430. We do not use 430F for welds. I know other companies use TIG and Laser, but we use only E.B. We do not use fillers but keep gaps to a minimum of .002". Parts also have to be very clean. We do not weld inhouse but use E.B. Industries. ( We manufacture solenoid valves for primarily aerospace applications from this combination.
