Hi,
I just developed welding procedures for ASME B31 piping using ASME Section IX welding code, I'm preparing to develop the same for wellhead piping, valves which I know is API 6A. Is there a different welding code for those or will it also be covered by ASME IX as long as the filler metal and material spec requirements are met?

Thank you.

Hope that helps,

Thanks a lot Kiwi2671,
That means its jus the same as qualifying procedures for pressure piping under ASME IX, but the only difference if to know the material types/specs. and knowing the strenght of electrode that can serve those materials.

I would recommend reading API-6A section 6. H2S service and hardness requirements/locations, impact testing per temperature class will affect your New WPS.
