Hi
Having problems welding 10mm plates to bottom of the hull of a 100yr old dutch barge. Using a 376amp 3 phase mig, with 1mm wire, and Ar/Co5% gas.
Problem seems to be linked to corrosion, within the rivetted joint, adjacent to the area where we are trying to weld. This is causing gassing of the weld should we attempt anything other than 50mm backstep technique.
Wonder if anyone has any idea how this problem might be dealt with? Any help much appreciated!
