Hi All,

Here I have got an question,

For a small nozzle say 25NB, on a vessel, the normal layout is weldolet welded onto the vessel and a pipe is welded onto the weldolet and then a WN flange is welded onto the pipe.

The question is can the WN flange welded direct onto the weldolet? if ignore the potential problem of tight room for the fasteners?

Thanks

It's okay.
There is room enough for the fasteners.
Draw it.

You can actually get a forged fitting called a Weldoflange which is a combined weldolet and flange rather than having to weld the two fittings together.

europipe,
Two fittings vs one also one less butt weld plus the radiography etc. Think you need to do the total sums again on cost!!!!

what I am try to find out is, is there any code have any statement that preventing weld weldolet direct to flanges. I cant see why not. I want to have a some sort of proof that we can do it this way.

WN flange and Weldolet can be both off shelf items, I guess a weldoflange is not that widely available, so might have to be custom made, plus if all other welded will be x rayed, so it might not be that much extra cost to do x ray on this extra weld. There might be some case where taken other factor into consideration that make weldoflange more beneficial than two pieced welded.

Weldoflanges are off the shelf items/components. There are no restrictions to welding a weld neck flange to a weldolet.
