What demister type to use

We have a gas stream that contains sticky particles/droplets that we need to remove. In separating the particles we don't want to loose too much pressure.
Options we have considered are:
1. Demisters (chevron plate type): Currently this option looks like the best option at this stage, because it will be cost effective and easy to install (it could be installed in our vertical knockout drum), but I am not sure what configuration to use.
2. Wire mesh demisters: The problem with these are that they could block very easily.
3. Cyclones:: This could work very well, but are very expensive. It could also have a high pressure drop.

You don't mention what the composition of the stream is or what the particles are made of, however one other thing to consider is spraying the mesh pad or plates with a solvent to wash the particles off of the pad or plate. You could make it a continuous spray or spray only when the pressure drop got too high.
 
We are looking at an online cleaning system, but it is not going to be easy to install since the pressure in the knock out drum is about 2600 kPa. We also do not want to inject anything in the gas stream.

The gas consists of CO, CO2, H2 and CH4. The water inside the gas consists of some tars and oils at 35 °C.

What I want to know is what TYPE of demister to use.

The gas composition looks similar to cokeoven gas from coke making process. Can you tell me what it actually is and the process. Is there naphthalene and BTX in the gas? Do you want to remove water as well as tar?
