What does the best program which shall be used for performing the finite element analysis for column supported cone roof structure with trusses ???? The tank will be 30500 mm diameter snd 14 m long

I will suggest SAP 2000 .
However, for dia 30.5 m and H= 14 M, i will suggest trussed cone roof without central column.
I will check my PC. If i find a drwg of past applications, i will post.

if you have this drawings in cad format or sap . Please send it urgently.
And why self supported truss roof instead of column supported roof for 30m diameter

Design of a roof framing system should use structural analysis software, not finite element analysis. There are many options, including the SAP 2000 suggested by HTURKAK. I'm familiar with RISA-3D, but there are many others.

I would guess a single span cone roof using standard I beams for the rafters would be the cheapest.

Because self supported truss for 30 m span more effective, more over the column ht 15 m. I will look around again but just for info. i attached the suggested truss picture from the book = Guide to Storage Tanks and Equipment ,Bob Garner).

regarding the analysis, you can model the roof plate with shell elements and truss with frame elements . SAP 2000 is capable but i am not familiar with RISA 3D.

For a tank this small, a single column with radial I-beam rafters is an easy hand calculation. Why bother with FEA or other fancy programs when doing it yourself will teach you a lot and not really take all that much time?

It is not a small tank , it is 30 m diameter tank

Mr . Hturkak,
could you please send me a copy of guide to storage tank and equipement or link that i can download this book. ???

In by book, this is a small tank. It is only 98 feet in diameter, well within the range of single column designs.

My opinion is ,this is medium size tank..the roof can be with single column supported cone roof with radial rafters..But the total weight will be more then self supported truss roof type.

Mr. ENGRANIA (Mechanical),

You may buy this book from Amazon
You may also check the web for other alternatives..

I am retired engineer and finally found some docs in my documents . I do not know your e-mail to send ..Do you have Linked in profile?
