I have a question regarding the trailing "m" in the ASME Y14 series specifications and why it is there if it is acceptable to dimension in inch units.

Also why is it listed at the end of other specs, such as Y14.34M, Associated lists, as well as a few others.

Thanks

The M just means it covers metric as well as inch in most cases.

In one or two instances they actually have separate standards for metric V inch.

In 14.34 I suspect it's because dimensions are given in a few places, such as section 4.1.
