what is a ''test club'' prop/ prop control required for bench run of turboprops engines

I recently cam across test bench run requirements of t501, commercial equivalent of a famous t56 engine... it had mandated use of 'test club' prop and prop control for bench run of any engine used onto it....

further this 'test club' parts were also not to be used on aircrafts

to me it was strange.. if any body can explain......

A "TEST CLUB" is the generic name given to a propellor used for test cell and ground run purposes. It may be sized and pitched so that the engine under test cannot exceed its rated RPM or for a specific performance curve. Sometimes the actual propellor used on the aircraft may be used as a " test club" but not the other way round.
