WHAT IS AUTOIGNITION ? Can somebody explain to me.

From Book - Autoignition Temperature of a substance is the temperature at or above which material will spontaneously ignite (catch fire) without an external spark or flame.

Why is coming that ? If there is NOT ignition energy, how can be autoignition.
My understanding - small ignition temperature approaching to the temperature of atmosphere. Is the atmosphere doing that ?- Raised temperature of atmoshere means - energy ???

Whenever gas is compressed the temperature of the gas will increase. For example, for a 10:1 compression with the original temperature of the air being 80 deg F will result in air with a temperature of 854 degrees F. A 20:1 compression will produce a temperature of 1217 degrees.

Diesel has a relatively low spontaneous ignition temperature -- lower than gasoline.
