Hello!

I was surfing about differnece between construction of angle seat valve and Y-body globe valve but didn't got clear picture of difference between them! they have likely same kind of structure.

It would be great if anyone can help me with this confusion to get me into a clear picture of this difference.

Thank you.

From what I can see, it appears that the angle seat valve is a pneumatically controlled piston actuated valve. It is normally used in applications where high temperatures and flow rates are required.

The Y-pattern globe valve has a similar body construction but uses a disc instead of a piston and a manual handwheel actuator. They are still typically used for throttling applications. Both valves offer minimal resistance to flow.

Hi Bharti,

The above answers describes what the details and main differences in the construction of the two types are.

To clarify matters both types (straight and angle valves) can be operated, if the construction is adapted for it, by hand, pneumatic, hydraulic or electric.

There is no exact description of when to use whitch type. As for all valves: use the valve at applications the factory has designed it for. This is always the question of best value over time: buing installation operation and maintenance cost (including stop and repair cost) diveded by expected lifetime.

Some angle type globevalves are better for certain regulation applications, higher pressure and flow rates, abrasive fluids, low and high temperatures etc.

Best luck!
