I'm looking at this single line of this power plant. And there is actually another power plant within a mile of this one. There are these tie lines between the two.
I notice on the circuit breakers that tie back into the Plant on that tie line, that the relaying only senses the neutral and the ground current on the (Tie Line Circuit breaker OCB 1571).
Can someone explain the general philosophy of the tie lines ? Is this circuit always live?
And then there is the typical Utility data from this tie line, is this a parallel source or should this be turned off in the short circuit calculation ?
Note the power in this comes up from the bottom - which is the Power plant's generator.
