say 1.13 from the datum plane A to the left surface of the forging. than 3.41 from that left surface to the right surface of the forging. any of these two considered to be STEP dimension? as you know, the tolerance, loose on length, but tight on STEP.
thanks.
As you probably noticed, nobody has the answer so far.
I am very curious myself what "step" dimension is, is there a chance you showing as example of a drawing (not necessarily complete) with "step" dimension specified?
checkerhater,
i found out.
"a step dimension is a dimension that extends between two surfaces so oriented that dual probes (with one probe contacting each surface) could both be withdrawn from contact with the surfaces, in the same direction and along a line parallel to the dimension line."
hope it helps you.
