What is the best way to break the link between Assembly CAD and drawing in NX teamcenter 10?

Requirements :
1. The CAD data is huge, so it is not necessary to link with the drawing , for further process flow.
2. The drawing should be ease to update in future.

Is there any option available ready made in NX teamcenter, keeping these requirements in mind?
Is there any best practice can be followed in such cases?

Have You looked into storing the drawing in a separate Item than the drawing

I agree w/ Jerry,
Look into the master model approach where your drawings are kept separate from the 3d.

The othersetting you're looking for in the drawings is: extracted edges. (view->style) I believe you'll want this checked on.
