What is the current status on raising the Hunley civil war submarine.

I'll bet Ballard has given this idea some thought - does he have a website? I wonder if the Navy wants her to stay put - she's a civil war gravesite and deserves respect. The Arizona is a similar site and nobody wants to disturb her.

Currently the Sub is being preseved with plans to Bury the last crew in Charleston along with H.L Hunley and the previous crews.

 

The Hunley is being opened up as you are reading this. They are removing bolt form the plates that make up the hull. After removing two plates they will remove the crew and sweep the inside the plates should be off by next monday. Go to
