Dear All,

I required some number 1" AL Bronze ball valve 4 - 8 bar pressure for a project I'm working on. The client specified Reduced Bore, A well known supplier qouted Full bore valve, considering the pipe size and flow rate accros the pipe there is no or minimal pressure drop.

Please advice on this issues.

This site has a pretty good search function. This topic has been discussed dozens of times. A moment in the search should educate you on the differences and why a person would use one vs. the other. That is my advice on the matter.

It's usually just an economic decision. At larger sizes especially, reduced bore costs less and if you don't need full bore, such as pipeline duty, and pressure drop is negligible, then cost wins out.

At 1", the cost difference is not so much and your supplier has given you something a bit better. Only you know if this costs more than another supplier offering reduced bore....

My motto: Learn something new every day

Also: There's usually a good reason why everyone does it that way
