hi,
actually if we r using any cut/boss features based on upto vertex or up to surface, solidworks can't pattern it properly.
and if u r using drafts based on parting line , it is not taking properly.(some cases fillets also not patterned properly) some times it is taking - some times it is not taking.
can u tell the reason for such a behavior.
in what conditions we can use parting line draft, neutral plane drafts.
is there any solution to solve it.

thanks,

As far a s patterning a cut/boss based on upto vertex or surface, try selecting geomotry pattern.

Not sure about the rest.

Fillets never have patterned or mirror correctly. What I do is, I just make one side, mirror all the features except the fillets, then add the fillets manually to boths sides.

As for the up to surface when doing a cut extrude works fine for the example I made, but I'm probably not making it the way your having a problem with it. Correct me if I'm wrong but what your probably seeing is that it you cut up to surface and mirror it, it cuts to the intial surface you used? If that's true then it's working as I would expect it too.

As for the draft be sure to pick the draft feature and not just the extruted piece. Then it works fine.

hi,
actually - initially i used parting line draft for a groove cut and i gave pattern the groove.but the draft is not taking for patterned groove cuts . then i changed the parting line draft into neutral plane draft . now i patterned the same groove cut . now this draft is taken for all patterned groove cuts.

as per my practical experience,if i am going to pattern the fillets , in some cases that fillet is taken for all patterned features, in some cases it is not taking.

and i know the basic concept of parting line draft that if we want to give draft to some curvatures , we can use parting line draft.

my question is ,
is there any special conditions that what condition we have to use neutral plane draft / parting line draft according to pattern basis.

and for fillets, in some cases - why the solidworks is taken fillets for patterns and in some cases it is not taking?

in my model i have to pattern the cut groove feature to more than 100 child pattern . after patterning it, it is very tedious to select the edges manually for all patterned cut grooves eventhough i use filter edges concept.
apart from manual selection for fillets, is there any way to give the fillet at the starting stage itself (i.e) before patterned.

thanking u very much,
