I need to find out the spec's for steel EN6. I have been given a 709M as equivalent but do not know what to compare it with. Any takers?

BS970:1955 lists EN6 as C 0.40% max, Si 0.05-0.35%, Mn 0.50-0.90%, S 0.050% max, P 0.050% max. Nearest equivalent is now BS970:1991 080M30.
