New user here.

Trying to get the hang of Spin Center and it is driving me crazy.

Near as I can tell to reliably get into Spin Center to rotate my model I have to rapid click the center wheel 3 times with the third time click hold and drag.

Surely I should be able to spin the model with a single click drag?

Update

After doing above it does work with single click drag. But I can't figure out why sometimes it doesn't work unless I do the three click routine as above.

Don't know what you mean by "get into Spin Center". I just hold down the MMB & my model spins.

Exactly my problem - a good portion of the time I can try and try and try and it won't spin (on my laptop with wireless mouse). I'll have to try on my desktop to see if I can reproduce the issue. Meanwhile I retrieved my 3D Connexion device to work at home.

Middle Button in Pro/E does Default Action the same way Enter can be used. If there are any highlighted icons or DONE options in Menu Manager visible that might be affecting middle mouse for spin.

I'm glad I can have my spaceball active when I start Pro/E and don't have to enable an add in. Depending on whether Spin Center is active the model spins about the spin location when disabled it spins about screen point you click MMB on.

It also might be the surface you are using for mouse. I sometimes get better results on my pant leg than a mouse pad.
