Howdy all,
I'm creating a test setup for a starter motor and I want set the input voltage on the supply to 25V ± .5V and then turn it on and measure the inrush current which could be up to 800 Amps. I'm not sure what kind of power supply I need for this, and most of my searches are pointing me to power supplies that limit the inrush current. The testing requirements are for a total terminal impedance of 21 to 23 milliohms. I only need the power for 13 seconds, to ensure it hits a set RPM in a required time.
One option was to use a battery pack, used to power the starter motor on the flight line, but I think this would be more expensive then a power supply, less able to control the input voltage and have additional equipment to keep the pack charged.
Could you point me to the right type of power supply for this application?
