Hi,

Does anybody know what new (important) modification (enhancements) NX 8.0 brings?

Thanks!

I was just about to ask the same thing.

It appears that NX 8 is still a beta release (?), and I'm unable to find any info on the Siemens website for anything newer than NX 7.5.

The production version of NX 8.0 is now available for download and installation from the GTAC support site, which will include the 'Release Notes' and 'What's New' documents.

I see........
Is there the information I (we) am looking for for NX users that do not have NX 8.0 yet?

Thanks

I will see if we can get a copy of the 'What's New' posted separate from the actual software although if you do download a copy of the software, which can be done without a license (you will need your WEBKEY ID and password) you can load the Release Notes and the What's New document without having to actually install NX 8.0.

I am also curious, John. However, I am one on the great unwashed with no webkey access, relying only upon the graces of my employer.;-)

OK, at least for now I've uploaded a zipped copy of the NX 8.0 'What's New' document to the Siemens PLM GTAC 'scratch' area where you can download a copy once you've logged in using your WEBKEY ID and password. The file name is NX80_Whats_New.zipper (after downloading, edit the file extension from '.zipper' to '.zip' and then you can uncompress the file). Once open, just double click on the 'index.html' file to launch the 'What's New' document.

To reach the GTAC FTP download site, go to:

Note that the zipped file is still nearly 40mb in size.

Now I understand that this procedure will only allow existing customers with valid WEBKEY ID's to access this document but that cannot be helped. The 'What's New' document is copyrighted and by using the GTAC support site, anyone who downloads it will automatically be doing so under the terms of their maintenance agreement (this is why I've not uploaded a copy here). For anyone not able to access the GTAC site, there will be collateral material available when we get closer to the official launch of NX 8.0, which due to situations beyond our control, will not actually happen for another month or so despite the fact that the software is currently available to at least existing licensees of NX.

Actually, I just wanted to know what NX 8.0 brings in additional to NX 7.5.
I didn't request a very detailed list of modification....just general and important to know facts................

Someone else will need to put that list together for you if you're looking for something now. As I previously stated, there will be additional collateral available when the official launch takes place in about a month.

I hope the patterning of hardware works correctly now. In 7.5 we noticed that if you had your HW stack up installed from one side of a plate but the holes were patterned from the other side your first HW would be correct but the patterned HW would be flipped 180...

"What's New in NX8" is now up on the GTAC documents site.

Yes, we asked that a copy be placed there, as my 'scratch' file scheme was intended to only be temporary.
