Anyone, please advise what other stamps or seals are useful to a licensed engineer besides the P.E. Seal or Stamp? and Why?

Thanks.

Thanks RBulsara (Rafiq) for your input...in a previous thread JLSeagull mentions that he uses a "For bid purposes only" stamp which seems very helpful, so I was wondering if other engineers had other applications or uses that might be common purposes so to speak...Do you use any other stamps besides your PE Seal in your Electrical type of work?

We have a standard stamp for shop drawing review. Something like "this drawing has been reviewed for compliance with the design spec, etc.". Most stamps stores have these for sale.

CAD has made some stamps redundant or less used.

Nonetheless consider some of these:
Shop Drawing review stamp
Not for construction'
Preliminary
Date stamps for Received stuff.
Draft

Google "professional stamps and seals providers" and check out a websites of stamp manufacturers. They have a few samples.

Just note that your PE stamp is quite different in legal context from the other stamps discussed above. Your PE stamp connotes your personal liability and responsibility.

In Texas, the Board now requires all engineering documents released, issued, or submitted by or for a registered engineering firm, including preliminary documents to clearly indicate the engineering firm name and registration number. Several states have firm licensing requirements. As the PE that may sign and seal a document, verify compliance with state requirements such as the firm name and number on all engineering work released for any reason. Even if not stamped with the PE seal, consider stamping the drawings with some purpose such as preliminary etc. for each release.

Msquared, yup. But again, seals are pretty much worthless, the overhead in fish is just to high these days.

Be careful, one wouldn't want to come out and whale on you for making such a statement.

SNORGY,

Were you the one who originally mentioned the forever stamp?

I don't know why that was RF'd. It was classic.

No, it was not me who originally mentioned the forever stamp.

I guess the stamped record of the memory is one forever lost.

I have a date stamp which is quite useful for date stamping plans. It is self inking and can be set for any date from 2001 - 2012. when I get several versions of the same plan sheet, I stamp them with the date. Otherwise there may be no way to tell which one is the most recent.

I have:

Check Copy Stamp
Superseded Stamp
Auto Numbering Stamp (I use for adding page numbers to calcs, quicker than writing 1, 2, 3...268, 269...)
For Information Only Stamp
Preliminary Stamp
Issued for Construction Stamp
Uncontrolled Document Stamp
Copy Stamp
File under 'T' for Trash Stamp

The first three are those I use most often.

I dont have a PE stamp.
