Hi,

Good day to all valued community members.

My question is that we have designed a vessel in July 2019 and fabricated in December 2019, and hydro test performed in January 2020.

In between fabrication and hydro test our ASME "U" stamp was re-newed with ASME audit and code design was update from 2017 to 2019. we understand that code of design shall not be changed.

so in the presence of above scenario what shall be the "year of built" mention on ASME name plate. whether it will be 2019 or 2020?

pls advice and clarify based on your expert opinion.

Standard Designation: BPV Section VIII Div 1
Edition/Addenda:
Para./Fig./Table No:
Subject Description: Section VIII-1, "Year Built" in Data Report Forms
Date Issued: 10/01/1984
Record Number: BC84-412
Interpretation Number : VIII-1-83-317
Question(s) and Reply(ies):
Question: Data Report Forms U-1 through U-4 have an entry to indicate the year in which the vessel or part was built. Does this refer to the year in which the vessel or part was completed, final inspection concluded, and the Data Report signed?

Reply: Yes.

thank you for share ASME interpretation.

In fact, I've already gone through this depicted statement but still unable to understand the what year shall be mentioned on name plate while inspection and hydro test done in 2020.

Summarizing case:

Vessel Designed Code Year is : 2017
Vessel Fabrication completed in : Jan 2020
Vessel Hydro test done in : July 2020.

Be noted that ASME Audit done in December 2019 for 2017 code, and after 2019 audit ASME code new year quality manual received and ASME 2019 code implemented to follow.

so now my question is that what will be the year to be punched on name plate and second main concern is that, either we need to revise the vessel on new code of 2019 edition or still AI will stamp it as 2017 year in 2020 July ?

Please share your valued words.

Your vessel was completed in 2020. That is the date to apply to the nameplate. The 2017 Edition of the Code will be referenced on the Data Report.
