What to check on this kind of supporting

Hi,

I have a horizontal vessel (ASME VIII div 1) that needs to be supported by two points on its cross section, as shown in the attached figure. Its a problem of two localized inward radial loads being applied to a cylinder, I'm not familiar with the WRCs procedures so I do not know if that is the case.

Can anyone point me the section of the code,any methods or the stresses I should analyze?

There is also a stiffening ring inside the vessel acting as a stiffner on this section.

victorpbr, WRC 107 method could be used for an unstiffened shell, but will not account for the ring. You would need to follow the sign convention for your software, as I recall per WRC 107 positive radial loads are directed inward.

Perhaps Roark has a couple of cases (cylinder, ring) you could superposition.

I took a look on WRC 107, the "problem" is not accounting for the stiffening ring. But thank you for your input, I will look into your superposition suggestion.

Anyone knows if I can do a FEA analysis per Part 5 on div 2 on this?

I did not expressed myself clearly,

I was in doubt about how to factor the loads to do an elastic-plastic analysis, but since these are support points I guess I can just constrain the displacement on those points and run a analysis, should do it. But if I didn`t know the displacements, how would I factor these external applied loads?

 
Factor the weight of the vessel. Restrain per normal. I'm confused why this is confusing.
 
For the example posted it is clear for me now TGS4. My doubt was for external applied forces such as those analyzed by WRC107 but when we have a stiffening ring if are rules provided for that on part 5

If you have a stiffening ring, just include it in your model. Otherwise, there is nothing special to do.
