Good day, I would like to ask on what will also be the type of member release is to be used on steel structures? Since our instructor didn't teach us how to use staad and he ask us to design a truss and honeslt, im not familiar with those relase moments he talking about. This my first time to use staad that is why i am not familiar with those terms.. in addition, he wants our design to be safe and econimical.

give me insights/simple explanation in order for me to understand the concept please. thankyou

Read STAAD user manual about "support types/specification", "member/joint connectivity", "member end releases" and "joint releases". They are well documented and explained. Traditionally the truss members are assumed pinned; but in real work, continuous member is used for the chords.
