to demonstrate another configuration of a component in an assembly?

Say I've got one configuration, with a component oriented one way, and another configuration with the same component oriented in the opposite direction.

If you want to switch part configurations (i.e. part changes shape), you likely also need to have different configs in the assembly.

If the part is the same and all you need is different positions, do it all at the assembly level.

Yep, do the configs at the assembly level unless you're changing features on the part.
